Use the following instructions and diagrams.
Photographs of the model are available at www.PaperModel.cz/GotickyDum may
also be very useful. Next info are available at

. Use caution and be patient, especially while gluing - make sure you give the
glue enough time to harden sufficiently.
Individual parts of the model are marked by
numbers in yellow circles. There are
complementary windows and other parts for more advanced model builders, those
are marked by letters A, B, C, D in yellow
circles.
Before putting the model together, make creased
the folds and make cut outs. Folds marked by a black line with an arrow
are
those to be scored on the printed side and folded away from you. Folds marked
by a dotted and dashed line
are those to be cut on the blank side and folded towards you.
Insert a nail at the end points of the lines, connect them using a ruler and
cut with a craft knife.
Cut outs are marked by a red diagonal. Numbers on folds mark
the parts to be glued there. The area where another part is to be glued on is
marked by a dotted line
with a number of the part that belongs there. Partial
cut (of the bottom fold of part 1 and inner fold of part 9) are
marked by a red line. For easier orientation, when a certain part is used for
the first time, its number is in bold.
Before building
Cut outs for bow window in part 1 are marked by
a red line. On back sides of parts 1 and 2, draw lines A-A: Insert a nail at
the end points of the lines drawn at the edge of the part and connect the
points. Make wood pillars 35 (3 pcs) and 36 (4 pcs) out of matchsticks or
modeling wood 2 x 2 mm. The shape, color and size of the pillars are to be copied
from the drawing of the model. You can reinforce the roof 17 by a sheet of
paper.
Before starting to build the model, chose
simple or more complicated version of the windows. After cutting out the holes
for the windows in the front and back wall of the house you will be gluing the
3D windows onto the back side. As there are many, windows are already drawn
onto the long left and right walls. If you, however, prefer to make these
windows also in 3D (there are 3 such windows for the back wall), cut out the
drawn windows and instead, attach the 3D windows marked A and B to the walls
where the numbers on their folds suggest.
Additional parts C and D are the corner stones
to be glued to the back corners of the yard onto the drawn corner stones. As
the whole model is quite complex, it is possible that after assembling the
whole piece that the corners will not fit together exactly so these corner
stones can cover the imperfections.
Building of model
Start by assembling the cloister using parts 9 and 10. Attach the long upper fold of part 10 to part 9, and then glue
the side folds of the ceiling and finally the vertical folds of part 10 to part
9. Glue windows 3
(1 pc), 4 (2 pcs), 5 (3 pcs) and 6 (2 pcs), and, if applicable 3D windows A (6 pcs), B (2 pcs) onto
the wall 1. Also attach the
bow window from parts 7 and 8.
Prepare wall 2 - you can glue on the 3D windows A (8 pcs), B (2 pcs). Connect
parts 1 and 2 and attach arcade made from parts 9 and 10. Start by gluing the
front vertical folds of part 9 to gable wall 1, securing the correct position
of the arcade by gluing the small side folds of part 9 to side walls 1 and 2.
Last, build the pillars of the arcade starting
by the end ones and finally the middle one. Make sure the pillars are straight.
Glue windows 3 (1 pc), 5 (3 pcs) and if you wish also
additional 3D windows A (3 pcs) onto the back wall of the house 14. Add
the entrance made from parts 15 and 16. Attach wall 14 onto walls 1 and 2 to
places marked by line A-A. To parts 1, 2 and 9 glue the walls of the pointed
arches-parts 11 (2 pcs) and 12 (2 pcs).
If applicable, attach 3D windows A (8 pcs) and B (2pcs) onto wall 2. Glue together parts 1
and 2. Starting by gluing front horizontal folds from part 9
to the wall 1 and 2 add cloister from parts 9 and 10.
While attaching the terrain to the model, make
sure walls are at a right angle- start by gluing the yard 24 to the back wall
of the house 14 and parts 15 and 16. Then glue long folds of the terrain from the inside to walls 1
and 2. Attach tiled area 13 to the
tiles on the walls 1 and 2, then put the pillars of the cloister onto the
terrain and lastly glue the fold of the tiled area 13 to the cloister wall 9.
Now glue wall 25 to the back wall of the house 14, then glue the lower fold to
the yard 24 and connect the back
vertical wall with the wall 2 while leaving the covering of the wall lose.
Similarly attach wall 26 to the back wall of the house 14, to the yard and the outer wall
1 while again leaving the covering of the wall lose. Shape the back wall of the
yard 27, attach the gate 28 and complete the wall. Now complete
the yard by attaching the back wall 27 to the completed piece- to the yard 24
and walls 25 and 26. Now top the walls 25 and 26 by the coverings and glue
covering 29 to the wall 27. Attach
stones 38 into the inside of the
corner created by walls 26 and 27. Similarly, you can glue corner stones C and D onto the outside corners, especially if they came out slightly
imperfect and you want to cover them. Attach gates 37 to part 28.
Put together the chimney 18 and its top 19 and
glue it onto the roof 17. Attach the
roof 17 to the house - first to parts 1 and 14 and then to the longer side
walls 1 and 2.
Now build a smaller building in the yard:
attach roof 34 onto the walls 33 - first glue long folds of part 34
to part 33, then attach folds of the gable to the
roof. Put together the stairway 32-
take your time with every individual step and make sure they are symmetrical.
Glue door 30 and 31 onto part 32. Attach the completed
staircase to wall 33. Insert pillars 35
(3 pcs) and braces 36 (4 pcs) in
between the railing and the roof. After the glue is set, attach the completed
building to the yard 24 and walls 25 and 27.
Attach completed
load bearing pillars 23 (2 pcs), 39 and 40, the pillar supporting the bay window 20 and the bay window 21
with a roof 22 to part 1. Lastly
attach the two pillars 40 to the back yard wall.
We hope you enjoyed the building process and
you are happy with the result.
